For us, there are few things better in life than creative, celebratory, feel good, group get-togethers. Hen Parties are a great time to bring together your favourite people for a party so that's our focus here but it will come as no surprise to hear that we believe a creative get-together is pretty much always a good idea and the same tips could apply!
We have been lucky enough to host quite a few creative get-togethers now including a number of Hen Parties. So if there's a party coming up that you're in charge of planning, we hope us sharing some top tips is helpful and encourages you to consider a crafty element to proceedings. They really can be a brilliant way to a) connect and have fun, b) cater for a diverse audience and c) bring a personal touch to your celebration. Don't just take it from us though, we also include a testimonial from one of our brides as to how they found the experience.
So to start, here's our top 5 tips for creating a truly unique, creative Hen Party:
Knowledge is key - get to know your guests in advance, from practical considerations such as allergies, mobility issues, where this element fits as part of the bigger picture as well as the group's preferences of what they enjoy. Ask plenty of questions to help you gather this information. This knowledge will help you to feel confident about your decisions regarding the right activity, in the right location to best engage your audience.
Focus on the fun - Provide plenty of reassurance and support - some people may feel pressured to produce something 'perfect'. The most important part of any celebratory get-together is that everyone enjoys it. Enjoying the process of the creativity and focusing less on the outcome is helpful. Usually if people are having fun and enjoying themselves the outcome reflects that. Choose a creative pursuit that is accessible to all skill levels and allows chat.... avoid activities that require long stretches of intense concentration.
Link the creativity to the celebration - this can be a nod to the big event e.g. borrowing a key theme or how about creating something that can be displayed at the reception as part of the decor? This will remind everyone of the awesome time they had at the Hen party and also provide the feel good factor that they also contributed to creating part of the Big Day itself.
Make it personal - Encourage your tribe to personalise the make so it is something that the Bride can keep and look back on.
Choose the venue wisely - the right venue will not only support you in putting your plan into action but will also set the scene and mood beautifully. Ideally the venue will make smooth sailing out of any practical arrangements necessary e.g. work to ensure the room set up is to your requirements and be on hand to sort out any issues on the day. A great refreshment package can also be really helpful. Music (in the form of a handpicked playlist) is a great finishing touch to create a good atmosphere.
