Our recent product additions have clear travel influences. We wanted these additions to reflect the places we love. For me my heart (and stomach!) is drawn to France. Our Pinterest board reflects some of our French loves - ooh la la!
France has a sentimental draw, it is where my husband proposed (in front of this exact Chateaû no less).
So here's what else I love about France, let's start with the obvious - Fashion and Beauty!
There is so much to be said about the French sense of style but my overarching love is the quality that French women seem to opt for. Think investment pieces in natural fabrics, silk shirts, cashmere, well cut jackets and ALWAYS leather shoes and bags. This could be a bit, well, boring! Fear not, French fashion would not be renowned the world over if it was boring, this is perhaps best demonstrated by brands such as The Kooples lust worthy pieces that require a fair bit of saving up for .Anyone who has visited Paris will have witnessed French fashion edginess, here's how to nail Parisienne chic courtesy of sheerluxe.com.
With a nod to a classic French colour combo and natural fabric we created our hand knitted
statement necklace with bespoke marbled beads, this is an item we rarely have off, a great versatile addition to your accessory collection.
Anyone who has been to anything ran by Team Crafthood will no doubt have noticed our love of the humble Breton stripe. We love it so much that we have released a Breton Pin Badge in honour of that love! Whilst the history of the Breton top is within the French Navy, it was none other than Coco Chanel who introduced it to the fashion world. So, every time we put on our bretons we like to think we are wearing a little Chanel number!
Since spending many a holiday in France, the revelation that is the French pharmacy has transformed my beauty cabinets. Here's my beauty haul from last summer's trip. I could list about twenty must have products but I'll just choose the absolute stand out - arise Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse®. This dry oil has achieved cult status and I'm a total convert. Multiple uses (face, body, hair), great smell, quick and easy to use - sold! But be warned it's slightly addictive once you start using it. It's about a third cheaper in France than the UK so if you go do stock up.
You cannot fail to be swayed by the French love (and expectation) of good food and wine. I remember a trip to France where we stopped not long after getting off the ferry in Calais. The village we pulled into had one restaurant serving one dish for lunch, the wine was provided (without us asking for it) and we were served the most amazing roast chicken legs with mashed potatoes, greens, and amazing fresh baguette. I remain unclear what would have happened were we vegetarian! The wine matched the food perfectly. They may have only offered one choice but it was a perfect choice. To me the French know what's good and they're happy to stick to it - très bon I say.
We have a lot to be thankful for from our neighbours over the Channel and have more travel adventures planned there; our children will thank us for endless eurocamp visits right? As a thanks, we came up with our latest addition to our card range.
There you have it, The French Connection explained. We'd love to hear how your travels have influenced what you create.
